Since 1998, the Cagliari group is a member of the LHCb experiment at the LHC at CERN. LHCb searches for new physics by studying CP symmetry violation and rare decays of hadrons containing b and c quarks. The experiment has been collecting data since 2010 at proton-proton center of mass energies of 7 TeV (2010 and 2011), 8 TeV (2012) and 13 TeV (from 2015 up to now).
Our group always had and still has a strong involvement in the development and maintenance of the muon detector. The group has very broad interests in data analysis in Charm physics, CP violation in the B system, quarkonia, heavy ions and rare decays. The group is currently one of the largest within the italian LHCb community and several members are (or have been) in key positions within the collaboration.
